We are thrilled to announce that Visiting Professor of Sociology Xi Song has joined the department on a full-time basis as Professor of Sociology and as the first professor of the Asian American Initiative.
During the Spring 2026 semester, Xi will be teaching an undergraduate seminar, Social Stratification Among Asian Americans. She is also working on a new summer course on computational social science. More information about this course will be coming soon.
Xi was formerly the Schiffman Family Presidential Professor of Sociology and a faculty member of the Graduate Group in Demography at the University of Pennsylvania. She was also the Scientific and Tech Core Director of the Penn Population Studies Center and a faculty affiliate of the International Max Planck Research School for Population, Health, and Data Science in Germany.
